According to F1 reporter Fred Ferret, Max Verstappen may decide to quit Red Bull before his contract expires in 2028. He suggests that his father Jos or Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko may have an impact on his choice to depart.
Verstappen has had an incredible start to the 2024 season, winning in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Internal conflicts inside the Red Bull squad, however, appear to have drawn the greatest attention as he prepares to win his fourth title, and if the situation worsens, it may lead to his departure.
Even though Christian Horner, the team’s principal, was found not guilty of acting inappropriately toward a teammate, Verstappen’s father raised worries that the team would fail if Horner isn’t disciplined. In addition, Verstappen’s decision to quit Red Bull could have been influenced by rumors that team advisor Helmut Marko, whom he holds in high regard, might be leaving.
While Marko stated that he will remain with the team for the time being, Verstappen’s open admiration for the 80-year-old suggests that he is prepared to quit Red Bull with Marko if needed. Jos stated in a recent statement that there are clear signs of an internal power struggle within Red Bull, even though the issue may have momentarily eased.
Given the seriousness of the situation, Ferret therefore raises the “possibility” that Verstappen could depart before his Red Bull contract expires. In an interview with F1 Nation podcast.
