The Seattle Seahawks have not participated much in free agency, preferring to concentrate on trying to keep their own players rather than big names.

The Seahawks’ offensive line and roster are in flux as a result of the departure of multiple players. Due to the departure of starters Damien Lewis and Evan Brown, there are two openings on the offensive line that need to be addressed.

Since the Seahawks lack firepower, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has the team select Washington star Troy Fautanu in his most recent mock draft. Cleveland Browns guard Nick Harris is the lone new lineman added as of this writing.

“Fautanu reunites with Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who was his OC at UW,” adds Jeremiah. “Fautanu can play tackle, but he would slide in at guard as a rookie with the ‘Hawks.”

By choosing Fautanu, Grubb acquires one of Washington’s key components to aid in shielding Geno Smith in 2024. The offensive line in Seattle still needs to fill a few holes, so Fautanu’s versatility might help.

With weapons like D.K. Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njiba, and Tyler Lockett, Grubb’s offense in college preferred to air out the ball, so Geno will need time to throw.

That’s where Fautanu shines with his exceptional pass-blocking abilities. The 6-4, 317-pound brute can be just as at ease playing guard or tackle and quickly become a vital member of Grubb’s offensive line.

The fact that Grubb is certain of receiving Fautanu is what makes this selection even more advantageous for Seattle. With their prior experiences together, there’s a good probability Fautanu will succeed right away in Seattle.

This is exactly what the offense and Geno will need from their offensive tackle in the first round.
