Less than a week from now, Alabama football will begin spring practice, and on April 13, A-Day is quickly approaching.

There is still much to be determined. How well do the defensive pieces that were acquired for Nick Saban’s scheme mesh with the 4-2-5 “Swarm” scheme that new defensive coordinator Kane Wommack intends to implement?

Who fills the available positions? How will Alabama fill the void left by all the secondary departures?

There are many unanswered questions, and DeBoer and his coaching staff will attempt to address them via spring workouts and fall camp.

Two important things to be aware of are: The Bandit, nose guard, defensive tackle, and Wolf make comprise Wommack’s four-man front.

Since both the nose guard and defensive tackle are two down linemen made up of players that have played defensive line for Alabama in the past, their positions should be rather obvious.

A little bit more intriguing are the Wolf and the Bandit. Bandit is anticipated to play more like a hybrid defensive end/linebacker.

Wolf, on the other hand, is likely to go to a guy who, in Saban’s defensive scheme, would have been an edge defender.

Bandit looks to be a good fit for Overton, and Robinson, the most experienced edge rusher, might get the best chance to take a swing at Wolf. Others to observe from the sidelines

With both Lawson and Campbell back to occupy the middle of the defence once more, the starting lineup is rather obvious. over the reserves, there might be some discrepancies over the definition of a “defensive lineman;”

While some of the more conventional edge rushers might continue to play defensive line, others might switch to linebacker and enter the defence from the inside.
