CLEMSON: The Clemson football team unveiled its anticipated starting offensive line, which is thought to improve under Matt Luke, the new offensive line coach.
Yes, there have only been two spring practices thus far.
Tristan Leigh (left tackle), Collin Sadler (left guard), Ryan Linthicum (centre), Marcus Tate (right guard), and Blake Miller (right tackle) make up the starting offensive line. After a poor performance against Kentucky in the Gator Bowl to close the 2023 season, where it gave up eight sacks, the unit is starting to work and learn a lot with Luke.
After the team’s second practice on Friday, Tate stated, “He demands excellence out of all of us.” “That’s going to be really good for our offensive line because we got to pick it up.”
In order to spend more time with his family, Luke originally gave up football in February 2022. In December, he secured a three-year contract to become the offensive line coach at Clemson. After his unit allowed 28 sacks in back-to-back seasons, Thomas Austin was replaced as head coach by the former Ole Miss coach.
The Clemson offence had too many turnovers, sacks, and tackles for loss in the previous season, as coach Dabo Swinney noted on Wednesday. Luke will hopefully be the sparkplug that gets Clemson back on track with an improved offensive line.
Luke has been teaching his athletes physicality, correct technique, and eye discipline, and he hasn’t hesitated to correct them when they make a mistake.
