After suffering a quad injury, the former Manchester City trainee—who can play as a left-sided centre half or wing-back—recently made a comeback to the Championship.
Ogbeta’s clearance to join Bolton was revealed by multiple sources during Friday night’s 5-0 FA Cup match between Bournemouth and Swansea.
After spending two seasons in League One with Shrewsbury Town, where he made 58 appearances and scored twice, he signed a contract with Swansea in January 2022 for an estimated sum of £300,000.
Due to a lack of games in South Wales, he was forced to return to League One on loan to Peterborough United, where he had success until an injury ended his time there in late April of last year. Additionally, according to local media, Posh attempted to loan him back this month.
It is hoped that the 22-year-old Salford native, who has played youth international football for England, can finalise the contract in time for him to play against Carlisle United on Saturday.
Due to a hamstring injury, Randell Williams has been sidelined for several weeks at Wanderers. Will Forrester and George Johnston are also injured, leaving little defensive depth.
During his press conference yesterday afternoon, Ian Evatt made a hint that something was going to happen soon.
“A lot is happening behind the scenes, and there is progression,” he remarked.
“We hope to have one more in by the weekend, and then there will be more.”
“Some bodies are needed. We are a little light because we need to add some new energy to the squad and the team, and losing Randell for six or seven weeks is a major blow.
Bolton’s transfer priorities have recently shifted due to injuries, therefore the final six days of the market may see more activity than expected.
Evatt remarked, “We were always content with what we had.” However, you must be flexible throughout the January window as accidents may occur and injuries may occur. We constantly work to maintain that.
“We’ve been working to improve and grow better. With that, things have changed, and we now have some excellent chances to bolster our team. Hopefully, we can accomplish that before the window expires.
Bolton had to wait patiently before being allowed to bring Ogbeta on because he has been out for Swansea in the last several games. However, it is currently unknown if the agreement will be a one-time loan or a long-term one.
Evatt declared yesterday, “We are not going to do anything impulsively.” “We strive to complete all tasks at a fair price. That is something we must not waver.
We have the willingness to back out of agreements, and we will do so once more. We did it last summer.
“Everything we do has a clear value, and the minute it becomes too heavy, we’ll walk away.”
