Wanderers are the “best possession-based team in the league,” according to Cambridge manager Neil Harris, who also believes Ian Evatt’s team has what it takes to advance this year.

The goals of Paris Maghoma and Carlos Mendes Gomes in the second half helped the Whites come back from behind to win 2-1 at the Abbey Stadium.

Harris believes his team performed admirably, but he thought Maghoma’s equaliser was a “really poor” goal to give up.

He told Cambridge Independent, “We played really well in the first half against a really top side and we ended strongly in the last 20 minutes.”

“I felt let down by the first twenty minutes of the second half. Although Bolton is an excellent team, they have controlled every other game far more than they did tonight.

They have many dangerous players, making them the top possession-based club in the league. They will get promoted as a result, and I wish them well in doing so.

We did a pretty decent job of presenting ourselves tonight. We did a terrible job on the first goal, but the second one is a fantastic ball play and finish.

“You cannot lose to a set-play when playing against the best team in the league.”

After Lyle Taylor received a straight red card for yelling at Jack Iredale, Cambridge was reduced to 10 men for the remainder of the game.

“It’s not back,” Harris continued. “I’m not going to go see the referee and get his opinion. He was making too much stuff up as he was speaking tonight.

We’ll review it, and if there’s a basis for an appeal and Lyle was treated unfairly, we’ll file one. If that was a red card, we will definitely take our medication.
