Gerald Everett, the starting tight end for the Los Angeles Chargers, will not play in this afternoon’s continuing game against the formidable Kansas City Chiefs. According to Daniel Popper of The Athletic, Everett hurt his knee. Jeff Miller, of The Los Angeles Times reports that Everett suffered a knee injury during his team’s inaugural run.
Reserve quarterback Easton Stick has demonstrated his run game today in place of the Chiefs’ numerous absent scoring options (along with the absence of many of their best linebackers and safeties today).
With eight seconds left in the first half, LA is behind 10-3.
Everett, a 29-year-old South Alabama native who stands 6’3″ and weighs 250 pounds, has logged 50 receptions for 407 yards thus far this season with Los Angeles. In addition, he has three touchdowns. With such numbers, the receiver and touchdown totals rank 75th in the NFL. Everett ends with just one four-year reception in tonight’s game.
California’s Inglewood (AP) — In the event that Patrick Mahomes gets hurt during the playoffs, Blaine Gabbert demonstrated that he is prepared to take over for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Harrison Butker’s 41-yard field goal with 49 seconds remaining on Sunday afternoon helped the AFC West-leading Chiefs defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 13–12 despite Gabbert’s two first-down blunders late in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs rested the majority of their starters.
In his first start since joining Tennessee in 2018, Gabbert completed 15 of 30 passes for 154 yards. “It was invaluable for myself and for a lot of the young guys that were playing,” he said. “They were playing to win the game, and we were up against a starting defence.” All day, our defence performed admirably.
