Erik ten Hag was nearly overwhelmed by hat-trick hero Cole Palmer’s most recent Premier League victory.

Palmer scored TWO goals in extra time, all but ending Manchester United’s chances of playing in the Champions League the following year. Despite facing 28 shots, deluded United manager Ten Hag insisted that his team deserved to win.

Nine minutes into stoppage time, they were up 3-2 when Palmer scored his second penalty in a crazy thriller at Stamford Bridge, seemingly saving Chelsea a point.

Amazingly, though, Palmer still had time to land the game-ending punch at 99:39, when his 20-yard attempt misdirected off Scott McTominay. Palmer also gave one final twist to the tale by acknowledging that he was a United fan growing up.

“I don’t know [how Chelsea came back]!” he gasped. We led 2-0 at one point, but then we made careless errors.

We gained momentum when the extra eight minutes were added, so I decided to go for it. It was insane. There is no better way to win than to try to win as many games as we can in that manner.

“We believed the crowd had lifted us after we scored the third goal, but thankfully I scored again when I saw the coach say there were two minutes remaining.”
