The San Francisco 49ers have a large selection when they head into the 2024 NFL draft.

Throughout the selecting process, San Francisco may be able to advance in trades by using some of those picks in packages.

The 49ers may not go up a lot from No. 31 in the first round, but they may utilize some of their late-round selections to move up to a few teams if they have a player they like who is still available between Nos. 25 and 27.

If someone the 49ers value falls more than anticipated, they may also consider trading for that player in the second round. In the second round, they might receive better value from their late-round picks that have lower price tags.

The 49ers may want to trade for the No. 26 overall pick for a variety of reasons.

The Niners are expected to target offensive linemen, and late in the first round, they may make a run at the second-tier interior guys.

The 49ers would take the spot ahead of the Arizona Cardinals at No. 27 if they were to trade up to No. 26 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Although Arizona does not currently appear to be a threat in the NFC West, the 49ers might surpass their divisional rival if it is also looking to acquire offensive linemen.

While San Francisco’s glut of late-round picks is attractive in a trade deal, its inability to move up the draft order significantly is hampered by its one selection in each of the second and third rounds.

The 49ers would probably need to trade up to choose one or two of their fourth-round picks in order to select a player like Graham Barton of Duke at No. 26.
