The Cleveland Browns are unlikely to have Nick Chubb for the start of next season as he continues his journey back from a catastrophic knee injury.
Chubb suffered a horrific knee injury in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His ACL and MCL were repaired in two different procedures, the most recent one being performed in November. Although a precise return date is unknown, he is anticipated to return at some point during the upcoming season.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, a Browns insider, doesn’t think Chubb will be ready for the opening few weeks of the season.
In her most recent Q&A column, Cabot stated, “I think they’ll go into the season with Jerome Ford, Pierre Strong Jr., D’Onta Foreman, and Nyheim Hines, with Hines being slated primarily for return duty.” “I anticipate that Nick Chubb won’t be ready right away because he will need more time to recover from his major knee reconstruction.”
Chubb has gained 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns via the pass six seasons. His 5.3 yards per rush over his career is among the best in the league. Before the injury against the Steelers, he appeared to be headed for another tremendous season.
Chubb is expected to contribute in some capacity for the upcoming season, according to the Browns. This offseason, the team and Chubb’s representatives will probably work on a revised contract. The squad is waiting for additional details and is approaching his return cautiously.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, Browns general manager Andrew Berry stated during the NFL’s Annual League Meeting, “Honestly, it is probably too early to really understand what he’s going to look like.” He’s genuinely making great progress with his rehabilitation, and he should begin running again later this month.
