According to reports, one of the opposing teams that used the transfer portal early this offseason has been contacted by the Oregon Ducks.
After he entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago, former Washington Huskies guard Koren Johnson is reportedly considering five colleges. The Ducks are among the front-runners for his commitment, according to Joe Tipton of On3. According to Tipton, Johnson is considering UCLA, Oregon, Indiana, Florida, and possibly even moving back to Washington.
Johnson averaged 11.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 31 games during the 2023 season. He spent two complete seasons as a player at Washington, where he was a prolific scorer who scored more than 20 points in four games just last season.
This season, the Colorado Rockies are predicted to be pretty awful and the reigning NL champion Arizona Diamondbacks to be pretty excellent. That explains nothing about what transpired on Opening Day, particularly during the third inning.
The D-backs had a fairly comfortable 2-1 lead going into the inning. With seasoned starter Kyle Freeland to the mound, the Rockies had good reason to believe they could still win. Then something hit Arizona. And still another success. And still another success.
Then ten more following that.
The D-backs set a team record and an Opening Day record for the most runs scored in an inning when they scored 14 runs in the third inning of a 16-1 victory. They also tied for the fourth-highest runs scored in an inning ever and broke the team record for the most runs scored in three innings on Opening Day.
