Top seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-3, to go to the Miami Open quarterfinals.

The 20-year-old Spanish player Alcaraz will next face 11th-seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, who defeated Hubert Hurkacz, the 2021 champion from Poland, 3-6 6-3 7-6 (7-3).

Daniil Medvedev of Russia and Jannik Sinner of Italy also made advancement.

Australian Open champion Sinner defeated Christopher O’Connell 6-4 6-3, and Medvedev triumphed 7-6 (7-5) 6-0 over German Dominik Koepfer.

Alcaraz, the winner of the Indian Wells tournament, hopes to accomplish the Sunshine Double by taking home the titles in both of the major American hard-court events in the same year.
