Last season it was a Thursday night game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This season it was a Friday afternoon game against the Miami Dolphins.

Last season it was Joe Flacco and Mike White. This season it was Tim Boyle. If you feel like you’ve already seen this New York Jets season, you have.

This season isn’t a complete carbon copy of the 2022 Jets, but it’s close enough.

Just like last season, when a Thursday night game against the Jaguars in Week 16 showed everyone how bad things had gotten in New York, the Black Friday crowd watched the Miami Dolphins pull out an easy 34-13 victory.

New York’s offensive woes ruin another season. A Jets offense led by Boyle, who replaced Zach Wilson on the bench, wouldn’t amount to much.

The Jets picked 6 on a Hail Mary late in the first half, perhaps the most embarrassing moment in another season of offensive ineptitude.

The Jets had two first downs in three quarters and didn’t score on offense until late in the fourth quarter, when the outcome of the game was already clear.

Jevon Holland’s 99-yard pick 6 on a Hail Mary attempt summed up a miserable Jets season, which feels an awful lot like last year. (AP Photo/Noah K.Murray)It was an ugly performance from the Jets, with the offense completely abandoning the defense. We’ve seen this before. This season and last season too.

The Jets offense is struggling againHow many plays did it take before we realized the Jets offense wasn’t going to produce any significant points on Friday? There couldn’t have been more than a dozen.

Boyle had one touchdown and 13 interceptions during his college career at UConn, but was considered a better option than Zach Wilson. The results were predictably the same.

The Jets had two first downs, one on a penalty, and 47 yards in the first half. They didn’t have a single first quarter loss.

If one play sums up the Jets’ entire day, other than the miserable Hail Mary that turned into a pick 6, it came on third-and-1 after the two-minute warning.

Boyle threw too close to the sticks—if you missed him before, he was on third with just a yard to go—and Breece Hall was hit when he caught the ball for no gain.

Then the Jets punted. The only way the Jets could score before halftime was through defense, and that’s what happened.

With the Dolphins leading 10-0, Tua Tagovailoa must have known the Jets’ only way back into the game was a defensive touchdown, but he telegraphed a pass that was intercepted by cornerback Brandin Echols and returned for a touchdown.

The Jets missed the extra point but trailed only 10-6.The Hail Mary pick 6 followed shortly after, which all but wiped out the game.

After a Jets interception with two seconds remaining, they had a chance to throw the ball into the end zone on the final play of the first half.

Boyle’s pass was intercepted by safety Jevon Holland, who appeared harmless. Then he started throwing it back and it was clear he had a chance to hit.

Holland drove through the Jets and into the end zone for a 99-yard touchdown with no time left in the first half.
