The two-year-old daughter of Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett tragically drowned in the family’s swimming pool on Sunday in Tampa.

Officers were called to Barrett’s home just before 9:30 a.m., according to a Tampa Bay Times report, after his daughter, Arrayah, fell into the pool. After being brought to the hospital, the child was declared dead because there was no chance of survival.
The Tampa Bay Times report continued by saying that an investigation is currently being carried out by the local police. It is thought to be a sad accident, and offers don’t think anything is fishy about it.

Not long after the tragedy was made public, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers issued a statement endorsing Barrett and his

“Every member of the Buccaneers family is devastated by the tragic news of today. During this unbearably trying time, Shaq, Jordanna, and the entire Barrett family are in our thoughts and prayers. We offer our love and support to them as they start to process the very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah, even though words cannot truly bring comfort at this time.”

Barrett will play for the Buccaneers for the upcoming fifth season. After sustaining a torn Achilles in a Week 8 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, he concluded the 2022–2023 season with 31 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble.

In 2019, the native of Baltimore signed a free agent contract with Tampa Bay. He was selected to the second team of the All-Pro team that same season and led the league in sacks (19.5). After starting his career with the Denver Broncos, Barrett went on to win a Super Bowl and another championship with the Buccaneers.
