LOUISVILLE, KY: In their rematch with Syracuse, the men’s basketball team at Louisville came dangerously close to mounting a comeback, but ultimately, the Cardinals lost 82-76, extending their losing run to five games.
Following the defeat, these are the comments made by head coach Kenny Payne, forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, and forward Kaleb Glenn:
“First and foremost, we spoke before the game how urgent it was for us to go out and finish the season strong in order to advance to the ACC Tournament. We discussed what Syracuse needed to lose and that, having won five of their previous six games or so, we would receive their best effort. You will therefore need to defeat a highly skilled and competitive team at this time.

Is not one guy, it is a multitude of guys. This is really hard, and I am going to say it again, I love every one of these players that is on this team. There is a fight that is required that you must have to win at this level, in this conference against these teams. At times, we don’t show that we have it. At times. our body language is bad. At times, we look disconnected and that is a problem for me.”
is a group of guys rather than just one. I’ll say it again: I adore every player on this team. This is a truly difficult situation. You have to compete like this in this conference against these opponents if you want to win at this level. Sometimes we don’t display our possession of it. Our body language is not always the best. We occasionally appear disjointed, and I find that to be problematic.
