The Cincinnati Bengals’ hopes of making the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl were severely damaged when they announced on Friday that quarterback Joe Burrow would miss the remainder of the season.
Cincinnati coach stated that the 26-year-old Ohioan, who guided the Bengals to the AFC title game and the Super Bowl in 2022, tore a ligament in his wrist and would probably need surgery.
Burrow left the Baltimore Ravens game on Thursday in the second quarter and did not return.
Before recognizing something wasn’t right, Burrow remembered landing on his wrist and completing a touchdown pass.
He told reporters on Friday, “I just felt a pop in the middle of the throw, tried to give it a go and couldn’t get it done.” “After the game, (I) kind of had a feeling before we got the official news.”
“We will persist in hammering it out,” Burrow declared. “It’s a tough season, it’s a long season, but we got the guys to continue to win games and make the playoffs.”
Burrow was replaced on Thursday night by Jake Browning, who is now the team’s starting quarterback.
