The legendary point guard for the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson, was injured during a vital game against the Brooklyn Nets. Without him on the field, his team was able to earn the victory.

Thinking back on his new position, Thompson said it was hard to go from being one of the team’s best players to a supporting cast member.

Yes, are you serious? It’s difficult for anybody to go from one of the top players, he acknowledged.

Thompson struggled throughout the game, as evidenced by his 4/9 field goal percentage, which included 0/3 from beyond the arc. With 7:19 remaining, he was replaced by Moses Moody, who kept his position.

Remarkably, Gui Santos, a rookie who had played little in the prior games, came onto the court before Thompson.

Thompson had to step up due to Andrew Wiggins’s injuries, which resulted in his benching him for the second time in three games at pivotal times.

In order to defend his choice, head coach Steve Kerr pointed to the impressive efforts of replacements Podziemski and Kuminga, who successfully kept the game moving forward.

Kerr expressed sympathy for Thompson’s difficult season and recognised the impact injuries and ageing would have on the seasoned player.

Thompson is having the worst shooting season of his career statistically, with field goal percentages of 41.5% and three-point percentages of 37.1%.

Kerr is beginning to favour Podziemski, Kuminga, and Moody’s performances over Thompson’s legacy as theirs continue to garner attention.
