PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers know they need better quarterback play in 2024, and if they don’t want to miss another season, they could — and should — look at outside options.
One of those options remains Justin Fields. The Chicago Bears quarterback doesn’t know where he’ll end up this offseason or if he’ll stay in Chicago.
But if he’s available, which appears to be the case, the Steelers should call.In fact, they shouldn’t hesitate.
The Fields situation has become more interesting in recent days.
A report says their first option with the first pick, USC passer Caleb Williams, doesn’t want to play for the Bears. Meanwhile, his offensive analyst, Kliff Kingsbury, just became the Washington Commanders’ new offensive coordinator.
Washington has the second pick in the draft.Maybe the commanders want to get Williams.
Maybe the Bears are happy with their second-best option plus a few draft picks from a trade.
And if that’s the case, the Steelers shouldn’t hesitate to bring in Fields.
The Steelers had their most successful offensive day in Week 12, surpassing 400 rushing yards for the first time in over three years.
Kenny Pickett also had arguably his best game of the year, going 24 of 33 for 278 yards and ranking second among all quarterbacks in CPOE and seventh in EPA/Play in Week 12.
With that in mind , an ESPN personality suggested that the Steelers would be better off retaining the services of a certain quarterback from the NFC North.
In an article on X, analyst Dan Orlovsky included the Steelers on a list of teams that would do better with current Bears quarterback Justin Fields.
