WSFA – Montgomery, demand Many customers of Alabama Power are receiving higher-than-normal bills as a result of the recent cold snap in the state.

A petition urging Alabama Power to reduce costs was started in response to this abrupt cost increase. The petition has received just under 5,000 signatures thus far.

Alabama Power has declared that, for the time being, no customers will have their power disconnected for nonpayment due to the problem.

We would like to reassure our customers that Alabama Power, working with the Alabama Public Service Commission, guarantees not to disconnect any customers for nonpayment until March 15th. The company said in a release, “We are committed to supporting them and we understand the challenges they may be facing.

Alabama Power is attempting to assist customers who are unable to pay for the assistance they require in response to the demand for reduced rates. Customers experiencing difficulties are kindly asked to get in touch with them to discuss payment options.

Owing to the increased demand, Alabama Power requests that consumers use an online form or go to www.alabamapower.com to seek answers to their inquiries prior to calling.

In order to help customers in need pay their power bills, the company also suggests that they contact Project SHARE, LIHEAP, and the ABC Trust Fund.
