Ryan Williams, a five-star wide receiver, announced his recommitment to Alabama on Wednesday. Williams first committed to the Crimson Tide in October 2022, but reopened his commitment on January 10 of this year following Nick Saban’s retirement. Williams visited Texas A&M and Auburn during the last two weeks before committing to play for new Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer.
Williams is ranked third at his position and eighth overall in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports. He was originally scheduled to graduate in 2025, but he moved it up to December 2023. He’s expected to join the team this summer.
“Electric playmaker with excellent top-end speed and make-you-miss elusiveness,” said Gabe Brooks, 247Sports’ national scouting analyst. “Requires height and length on a sinewy, wiry physique that can support more weight. Dynamic receiver outside or in the slot, with personnel flexibility to accept occasional handoffs. Extremely productive, with high per-touch rates. “Offers an immediate return game option at the next level.”
Williams had 187 catches, 3,254 receiving yards, 47 receiving touchdowns, 94 rushing attempts, 1,078 rushing yards and 24 rushing touchdowns during his three-year high school football career.
