A season ends and a new one begins. Yes, it’s time for the mock draft.
In the 2024 NFL Draft, which will take place in Detroit on April 25–27, the New York Giants are slated to select sixth overall. Here is a look at the current official order before we discuss the opinions of the draft experts. The outcome of the postseason will affect the remaining selections.
This is the second 2024 mock draft tracker from Jaguars.com, and similar to the first one, almost as many picks are predicted as there are analysts who believe the Jaguars will pick No. 17 overall in the NFL Draft.
There, defensive linemen continued to be a popular choice. In the second tracker, multiple analysts selected Illinois defensive lineman Jer’Zhan Newton to the Jaguars at No. 17.
Dalton Miller of Pro Football Network wrote of Newton, “His agility and burst make him a menace as a gap penetrator, but he also provides the intelligence and raw power of a high-end run defender,” while Tony Catalina of Pro Football Network added:
“Defensive tackles in the first round aren’t the sexiest of picks, but none of that matters when you draft a guy who has the ability of Jer’Zhan Newton.”
In the second tracker, cornerback Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo was projected by NFL Media Analyst Daniel Jeremiah to be selected by the Jaguars at No. 17. Cornerbacks were also a popular choice.
“He is incredibly gifted and will put on a show when it comes to athletic testing,” Jeremiah said.
Additional players the Jaguars were projected to sign in the second tracker: Alabama advantage Dallas Turner, Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins, Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat, and Washington offensive tackle Troy Fautanu, Brian Thomas Jr. of Louisiana State, Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga, Rome Odunze of Washington, Keon Coleman of Florida State, and Troy Fautanu of Oregon State are all wide receivers.
