Florida State’s defence is expected to have new faces at all levels in 2024, as the Seminoles must replace eight starters or high-end reserves, as well as some other valuable rotational players.

Growing difficulties are to be expected for a defence in transition, but the Seminoles performed well in the Transfer Portal, adding some high-potential players to go with a freshman DB class packed of blue-chip prospects. Will these additions yield immediate returns for FSU in 2024?

When spring practice starts in early March, we’ll have a better idea of who can make an immediate impact.

Here’s how we expect the defensive two-deep depth chart will look come spring practice.

EDGE
1. Sione Lolohea, RS Senior.
2. Tomiwa Durojaiye, RS Soph.
3. Jaden Jones, RS Junior.

Lolohea is expected to provide immediate solidity, particularly on early downs as an edge setter (75.2 PFF Run Defence Grade), and is a versatile piece across the line on passing downs. The All-PAC-12 Second-Team member was one of FSU’s most essential summer signings.

Durojaiye was another crucial acquisition because he is a versatile outside/inside player with long-term potential. He had some impressive moments during his redshirt freshman season at West Virginia, but he needs to be more consistent. There are lots.
