Before his trade to the Indiana Pacers, Pascal Siakam was engulfed in NBA trade rumors.
The former Raptors forward was linked to multiple teams, including the Golden State Warriors.
Golden State reportedly had interest in Siakam, but he reportedly wasn’t crazy about the idea of staying with the Dubs.
One senior NBA writer noted Siakam’s grim interest in staying in San Francisco long-term if traded to Golden State:
“The Warriors were interested. I don’t think he was excited about anything last season with them,” Sam Amick of The Athletic said, per Evan Sidery.
Siakam reportedly plans to go to the Pacers. Considering Indiana’s promotion to the Eastern Conference, this would make sense.
Plus, it must have been tempting for a dominant forward like Siakam to play with star point guard Tyrese Haliburton.
Still, it would have been exciting to see the former Raptors forward on the legendary Dubs roster.
At 35 years old, Stephen Curry remains one of the best scorers and shooters in the league, even if his squad took a step backwards during the 2023-24 season. Andrew Wiggins is averaging an all-time low in points per game.
Meanwhile, Klay Thompson is having his worst offensive production since the 2013-14 season.
However, the Dubs have what it takes to turn the season around and Siakam would be ready to help with the task. Nonetheless, Golden State is in twelfth place in the Western Conference standings.
Siakam probably wanted to go to a team with a better record. It could also be that he wants to play with a younger team or with fewer former All-Stars.
Either way, now that the NBA transfer rumors have calmed down for Pascal Siakam, he wants to help the Pacers break the barrier on their path to the playoffs.
