Over the past several weeks, Nebraska has been active on the transfer site; this activity has continued with an offer made to a JUCO player. Dylan Christley is an Arizonan defensive lineman who attends Maricopa Junior College.
In addition, he has offers from UNLV, MD, and Wyoming. Christley recorded 30 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles during an eight-game season. This summer, the Huskers have already added six players through the transfer portal.
According to On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings, the Huskers are now ranked 20th. Since the portal opened at the conclusion of the regular season, twelve players from Nebraska have also left the programme.
Nebraska football has a tough battle once more this year to retain its finest player at home. Carter Nelson received more recognition and awards from out-of-state programmes during the previous cycle than local high school observers had seen in a long time.
It appears that Christian Jones of Omaha Westside will be the main target of Matt Rhule and company’s competition for Nebraska’s best player this year. The linebacker is regarded as one of the top players in the entire nation in addition to being the best player in the state.
There will likely be increasing pressure on Jones and the Nebraska football programme to retain him in the fold as the recruiting calendar flips to the 2025 class and the 2024 cycle draws to a finish.
Fair enough, Jones hasn’t committed to the Huskers as of yet. So maybe it’s not completely fair to claim that Rhule needs to keep him in the fold. He must first pull him in. However, if one were to believe recruiting services like 247Sports, Jones would be a lead pipe lock and a stone cold Husker.
That hasn’t stopped colleges like Oklahoma and Notre Dame from pursuing the linebacker prospect—Jones is reportedly seeking a visit from Oklahoma, according to Tom Loy.
