Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Civaviro has conceded his first season at the Glamour Boys did not go as anticipated.
The 31-year-old had an exceptional 2022/23 campaign with the former Premier Soccer League side Marumo Gallants where he scored 17 goals in the 30 games he played. He helped Bahlabane Ba Ntwa reach the Caf Confederation Cup semi-final but things did not go as planned in the South African top-tier.
After relegation, Amakhosi did not have a hard time getting the striker who they hoped would help them stage stiff competition for silverware. However, things didn’t go as planned as the Soweto giants went on to finish 10th on the table with 36 points.
The forward was among the strugglers, having netted just four goals in the 20 appearances he made.
A major shakeup is expected at Amakhosi in the next couple of weeks in their quest to get things back in order at the Naturena Village.
Chivaviro has promised to deliver if the new coach gives him a chance, “Personally, I have faced a couple of challenges,” he told iDiski Times.
“I believe I have underachieved as much as there were challenges. But I’m a professional, and I know such things happen. I always work on the next day, and I do my best today, and hopefully, it’s enough.
“I believe I can do better, and I am going to do better coming to the next season.”
