Charles Leclerc has agreed to stay with Ferrari through the 2024 Formula 1 season by signing a contract extension.
Leclerc’s previous contract was supposed to expire at the end of the upcoming season, although Ferrari did not confirm the duration of the extension.
“I’m very pleased to know that I will be wearing the Scuderia Ferrari race suit for several more seasons to come,” Leclerc stated.
Since I enrolled in the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016, our team has become my second family, and throughout the past five years, we have accomplished a great deal together by persevering through good times and bad.
To be competitive at every race and make more development, I can’t wait for this season to begin because I think the best is still to come.
Leclerc made his F1 debut with Sauber in 2019. Since then, he has won five races and collected 23 pole positions, but he hasn’t been able to build a consistent title threat.
“My dream remains that of winning the World Championship with Ferrari and I’m sure that in the years ahead, we will enjoy great times together and make our fans happy.”
The 26-year-old Monegasque will remain with the club “beyond the 2024 season,” according to Ferrari’s statement on Thursday, despite reports in December from Italian media that Leclerc had committed to an extension until 2029.
