In the most recent NFL mock draft, Lamar Jackson is selected by the Baltimore Ravens.
Ladd McConkey of Georgia is selected in the most recent mock draft by CBS Sports because the Baltimore Ravens need a wide receiver.
It is common knowledge that Todd Monken’s offense with the Baltimore Ravens needs another weapon. There is now a gap in Monken’s scheme because it seems unlikely that Odell Beckham Jr. will return in 2024.
Even with Nelson Agholor, Rashod Bateman, and Zay Flowers to support Mark Andrews and Isaiah The Ravens probably wish they had another weapon.
“Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken coached Ladd McConkey at Georgia, and he would be a nice addition for Lamar Jackson,” according to CBS. “McConkey and Zay Flowers would be a nice 1-2 combo for a few years.”
Although McConkey doesn’t have very impressive stats at Georgia, he is reliable. Last season, he caught 30 passes for 478 yards and two touchdowns; in 2022, he caught 58 passes for 762 yards and five scores. Thus, the output is present.
The Georgia receiver has characteristics with other receivers in Baltimore. He can run any route on the route tree and has a smaller size. McConkey’s speed and exceptional acceleration off the line of scrimmage make him a potential first-day starter for the Ravens, despite his less-than-ideal strength and size.
