The 2020 NFL Draft was the beginning of the end for Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell. With a whopping 12 draft picks, including two first-rounders, Caldwell and Co. were tasked with improving a team that had finished fourth in the AFC South with a 6-10 record. Instead, the team worsened, with a 1-15 record the following season to prove it.

Where is the Jaguars 2020 draft class now?

After a disappointing run in Carolina, the Panthers opted out of bringing back the cornerback. This offseason, Henderson was signed by the Houston Texans.

Eleven picks later, the Jaguars had a second chance to get it right. With the No. 20 overall pick, Jacksonville selected K’Lavon Chaisson, a linebacker out of LSU. Chaisson never quite became the starter that the team had hoped. Over four years, he appeared in 57 games with just 11 starts and accumulated 73 tackles, five sacks, and two pass deflections. Chaisson will be joining the Panthers in 2024 on a one-year deal.

For lowing back-to-back defensive picks, the Jaguars switched to bolstering their offense in the second round. With pick No. 42, Jacksonville opted for Laviska Shenault Jr., a wide receiver out of Colorado. Throughout two years and 30 games with the Jaguars, Shenault recorded 1,219 passing yards and five touchdowns.

Unfortunately, injuries held the wideout back, which left the Jaguars looking for a replacement. The Jacksonville-to-Carolina trend continued, as Shenault was traded to the Panthers in exchange for a 2023 seventh-rounder and a 2024 sixth-round pick.

The sole third-rounder of the Jaguars’ 2020 draft class was DaVon Hamilton, selected with the No. 73 pick. The defensive tackle has added value to the roster, playing in 52 games with 30 starts over four years. Hamilton has recorded 144 tackles, 13 quarterback hits, 10 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and three fumble recoveries while wearing teal and black. In 2023, Hamilton signed a three-year extension with the team, becoming one of the only success stories of the 2020 draft class.
