You have a very wide selection when it comes to your favorite Oregon Duck football uniforms. Using Mike Bellotti’s Ducks as his canvas, Phil Knight and Nike began to significantly alter the landscape of innovation and style in football back in the mid-2000s.

Although Oregon had worn several different uniforms over the years, the college football community began to notice as the frequency of the uniform cycles increased.

It all began with tire tread on the knees and shoulder pads, the team name on the thigh, and then it grew into new patterns, different colored facemasks, helmets, and wings on the shoulders and helmet.

This past week on the Sco-ing Long Podcast, my co-host Jonathan Stewart—a legend from Oregon who was present for the first wave of uniform modifications back in 2006—and I got deep into the conversation about uniforms. I inquired as to what his all-time favorite Ducks jersey was.

Stewart answered, “The stormtroopers,” with confidence. It was concise and direct. It had your treads on the shoulders and was all white. And it just brings back memories of when we played the University of Washington. I’ll never forget how we annihilated them while dressed as stormtroopers.

In 2007, Stewart was not incorrect to say that Oregon will smash the Huskies; in Seattle, Oregon defeated them 55-34.

In the podcast, I emphasized the point that the uniforms’ uniqueness lay in their simplicity, as well as the fact that they were stylish and immaculate without trying too hard.

Stewart compared it to wearing a tuxedo. That’s just how it feels. I am going to whoop your rear today since I am wearing a tuxedo.”
