Shot clock issues and many replay reviews marred the conclusion of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors game on Saturday at Crypto.com Arena.
With a 128-121 victory, the Warriors improved their chances of making the playoffs, while the Lakers fell to 10th place in the Western Conference.
After the game, Lakers star LeBron James met with media and called the circumstances that transpired with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter “unfortunate.”
“Obviously it messes with the rhythm, but at the end of the day, you want to get it right,” added James. “It’s an unfortunate situation.”
Darvin Ham, the head coach of the Purple and Gold, was also quick to note how the prolonged delays affected the game’s rhythm:
Head coach of the victorious Warriors, Steve Kerr, offered his perspective on the matter, voicing annoyance with the shot clock’s malfunction as well as the replay reviews.
After the game, Kerr told reporters, “It was bizarre.” “It appears that clock problems occur a few times a year. That’s about as bad of a situation when the backup unit fails as I’ve ever encountered. It’s regrettable.
“… The regulation that allows you to go back and view an out-of-bounds is another one that bothers me. That appears to occur once or twice a year, LeBron’s three. Would love to see that rule removed.”
