The Football Association judged Nottingham Forest first-team coach Steven Reid guilty of misconduct; he was fined £5,000 and given an extra two-match touchline ban.

Reid challenged referee Paul Tierney after Forest’s earlier this month loss to Liverpool.

It was discovered that he had spoken to Tierney using more than three expletives.

In addition, Forest was fined £75,000 for its involvement in the incident.

Failure to make sure that players and technical personnel “did not behave in an improper way after the final whistle” cost the Premier League team their game. The club acknowledged the accusation.

Darwin Nunez’s victory at the City Ground in the 99th minute was followed by the incident.

When the game was paused in stoppage time in the second half due to a head injury sustained by Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, Forest was in possession of the ball outside the penalty area.

The decision by Tierney to give control back to Liverpool through a drop-ball, from which Nunez scored—albeit over two minutes after the game resumed—infuriated the home team.

Following the game, BBC Radio 5 Live heard Forest’s referee analyst, Mark Clattenburg, criticize the ruling, saying, “If the referee stops the game, he has to give the ball back to the team in possession.” It was Forest.
