So far in free agency, the Chiefs have landed some amazing agreements, but we’ve been surprised by some of the possibilities that were lost.
Not that we are here to gripe. The deals that the Kansas City Chiefs have already secured in free agency are commendable.

The good news is that the Chiefs have filled needs with quality options on sound contracts; so far, they have been patient in their approach to the free market, even if some very talented players have left to join other clubs. Not wasting money. No frightening agreements.

From Hollywood Brown agreeing to a very team-friendly single-season contract to tight end Irv Smith signing a minimum sort of deal, the Chiefs have shown much-needed prudence, and their long-term prognosis will be all the better for it. Even several returning players are taking advantage of cheap single-season contracts with K.C. After giving Chris Jones more than $30 million a year, I suppose this is wonderful news.

The Chiefs have assembled some frugal agreements, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t passed on some good offers. Taking a broad view of the market, these are some transactions that we believe general manager Brett Veach ought to have participated in.
