Joshua Roy will earn the Canadiens a full-time position outside of camp.
Joshua Roy, the 150th overall pick in 2021, played really well despite suffering an injury that could sideline him for some time. He has already established himself with the Canadiens. The only player on this list who will go from being a part-time NHL player to a full-time player in 2024–25 is Roy; Reinbacher, on the other hand, won’t see action until he has a ton of experience in Laval.
Despite just spending a half-season with the Rockets, he more than proved he was NHL-ready, amassing 32 points and 13 goals in 40 games. Roy has only managed nine points and four goals in 23 games since joining the Canadiens earlier this year, but he possesses an unmatched degree of confidence, which will be very helpful for a player who had to start his career behind the eight-ball.
The Canadiens should still be developing going into next season, so having a young guy like Roy who can contribute on both ends of the rink would be a luxury. The best part yet is that he will be a reliable addition to a nucleus of young players who are developing into NHL talent or who have already reached a respectable level of maturity. At the very least, Roy is a player whose stock will rise when the 2024–25 season gets underway.
