Former Seahawks linebacker hired by the 49ers to serve as assistant linebackers coach
The NFL’s top linebacking tandem will be coached by one of the best linebackers to ever play in the game.
A linebacker who has been a source of frustration for the San Francisco 49ers for a long time will be joining their coaching staff. K.J. Wright, a former linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks, revealed his appointment as the Niners’ new assistant linebacker coach on social media on Monday. The 34-year-old spent ten years as a Seattle player.
Wright’s role will include coaching defensive quality control as well.
“I’m ecstatic beyond measure. I am incredibly grateful for this chance. I’m overjoyed that the Niners organization thought highly of me. putting their franchise in my hands. since Day 1 I’ve been competing against those men. The 49ers were the opponent in my very first NFL game. Now, thirteen or fourteen years later, I’m going to be his coach. I’m fired up and prepared to go, Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch, and the Faithful. It promises to be quite enjoyable.

During the Legion of Boom era, Wright was among the top linebackers to play in the NFL. He now has the opportunity to mentor the team’s top linebacking tandem and impart some of his wisdom to the younger members of the squad.
