BOSTON—There aren’t many better venues to make your Bruins debut than Bell Centre on Thursday night. Newly acquired defenseman Andrew Peeke is expected to play in his first game as a member of the Spoked-B. The Florida native was acquired from Columbus just before Friday’s trade deadline, and he’s excited to play, especially since the Bruins will be playing their most illustrious rivals for the last time this season.

Peeke declared, “I’m excited to make my debut for the Bruins.” Playing for an Original Six team is a unique experience. You can only dream about it. I’m simply going to play my game outside.

“I’ve been watching those Bruins vs. Canucks games for a while now. And the Bell Centre is a fairly spectacular place, regardless of the artists performing there. However, facing them as a Bruins player will make it a little more exciting.

“It’s exciting just to be able to put on the Bruins jersey and walk into a winning culture and playoff team.”

Peeke stated that there are some similarities between the system used by the Blue Jackets and playing under coach Jim Montgomery, so the transition shouldn’t be too great.

“A few minor alterations and modifications,” stated Peeke. Other than that, though, there are some parallels. I’m learning something new every day, so that’s all you can ask for.

Peeke’s thoughts were mirrored by Montgomery, who added that he wants the blue liner to give Boston’s defense corps a little more pop and quickness.

“We’ll see how much he can do to help us,” Montgomery remarked. He is unaware of our entire organizational structure; we show him a video, but he still needs to put it into practice. Fortunately, based on our conversation, there are some parallels between our style of play and theirs from this year in Columbus.

“Hopefully, he can play with caution, add some strength to our lineup, and show some movement in the back end.”
