The Cincinnati Bengals are aware that their defensive tackle depth is lacking, but they still seem excited about the prospect of having DJ Reader return. They plan to pursue it in the draft and in free agency.
Malcolm Roach, a defensive tackle from the former New Orleans Saints, was a rising talent who they attempted to add, but he signed with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday.According to Denver Gazette reporter Chris Tomasson, the 25-year-old had numerous suitors.
Roach left the University of Texas undrafted. During the past two seasons, he has participated in 25 games, having spent all four of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints. Roach has amassed 64 tackles and one sack over the last two seasons.
With players like Nick Chubb and Derrick Henry in the division, the Bengals will need a number of tough guys in the trenches on the defensive side of the ball. Roach, at 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, has the size and strength to anchor the middle.
Knowing that Roach is going to Denv, Reader has not yet decided on his next organisation, so expect the Bengals to perhaps pursue him even more.
