Recently, three Volunteers were named Preseason All-Americans by Perfect Game.Drew FascioEmerging Tennessee ace Drew Beam was named a preseason All-American after two impressive seasons with the Volunteers.
Beam has been Tennessee’s Sunday pitcher the past two seasons and has had consistent success.
He was perhaps the most consistent pitcher of the main four: Dollander, Beam, Burns and Lindsey. He had a 3.63 ERA and a 9-4 win-loss record.
He did all of this while striking out a total of 88 in 84.1 innings pitched. Many people are speculating that Beam will be Friday night’s ace after losing Dollander and Lindsey to the draft and Chase Burns entering the portal.
Nicknamed “QB1” by Tennessee staff and athletes, he is expected to score points all season. Billy AmickBilly Amick is one of the new additions this team brought in from Tennessee.
The name may sound familiar, as Tennessee faced Amick and the Clemson Tigers in a 14-inning game in which the Tennessee Volunteers earned a victory.
Amick was a first-team All-American for the Tigers last season and is expected to play a big role for the Volunteers. He had a .413 batting average in 167 at-bats and 13 home runs.
He plays in the infield and the likely spot for him is 2nd or 3rd base, given that Christian Moore will likely play shortstop after getting reps there in the fall.
