PHOENIX: At American Family Fields in Phoenix, the biggest gathering of the springtime saw a little bit of everything.

There were spectacular plays from Milwaukee Brewers youngsters, star power on the Seattle Mariners side, and a debut for one of the Brewers’ top off-season additions.

In the end, the Mariners prevailed 7–5, with Julio Rodriguez’s three-run home run off Brewers starter Freddy Peralta being the game’s biggest hit. The crowd size was 8,052.

The Brewers also assigned work to Trevor Megill, Tobias Myers, and Joel Payamps on the mound.

On Saturday afternoon, Milwaukee was playing a second split squad game against the Oakland Athletics in Las Vegas, which ended in a 4-2 loss

Gary Sánchez was originally scheduled to make his Brewers Cactus League debut on March 14, but he had to heal from a hand injury he sustained while weightlifting.

However, Sánchez and the Brewers moved up that date by five days to Saturday after his trial run with real at-bats earlier in the week went so well.

For your first live MLB pitching experience in months, how about watching Mariners ace Luis Castillo?

Sánchez remarked, “That was actually the first time I ever faced him.”

In the first inning, Sánchez knocked a powerful single through the left side of the plate off a Castillo fastball. In the fourth, he popped out, and in the fifth, he grounded out.

Sánchez exclaimed, “I feel good.” That is, in fact, what they desire. We’re now acquiring some gaming experience and moving at their desired speed. It matters most that I feel good.

Since William Contreras is the primary catcher, Sánchez is expected to see a lot of action at designated hitter, where he started the game.
