There will always be people who disagree with Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic’s style of play, regardless of how talented he is. Doncic, who just made NBA history on Thursday by becoming the first player to ever record four straight 35-point triple-doubles in Dallas’ dramatic victory against the Miami Heat, was criticised by a former player who is well-known to Mavs supporters.

Former Mavs forward Chandler Parsons acknowledged how much of a “unbelievable talent” Doncic is on Friday’s episode of Run It Back, but he also speculated about how Doncic’s teammates could feel about playing with him.

“I think [Luka Doncic] is an unbelievable talent, he’s literally a guard version of [Nikola] Jokic, where he can do anything,” Parsons stated. “But as a teammate, it’s a little exhausting watching the same s*** over and over again.”

Parsons’ claim seemed unfounded considering how many of Doncic’s colleagues, especially his co-star Kyrie Irving, have only had positive things to say about him. Doncic leads the league in scoring with an average of 34.6 points per game, which is crucial for the Mavs. However, he also plays a fantastic role in assisting his teammates, ranking third in the league with 9.8 assists per game.

“I respect that kid, and how he goes about his business every day, and even if he’s on a bad wheel, he still plays,” Irving said on Doncic. “A guy like that deserves a lot of credit. It’s a pleasure to set records and be his colleague, guy. It’s a privilege. It simplifies the game. I’m aware that he feels the same way about me and that we should simplify the game for one another.
