Although Isaiah McKenzie, a wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, was mentioned as a potential cap casualty this offseason, it was difficult to imagine the hilariously dubbed “face of the franchise” being cut because he is one of the most adored players in the locker room.

On Friday, March 17, the Bills did, however, declare that Mckeznie, who was still bound to his contract for another year, would be released. The Bills saved more than $2 million by not re-signing the former fifth-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft. The 27-year-old’s release occurred “ahead of the $250,000 roster bonus” that he was scheduled to receive later in the day, according to Shanna McCarriston of CBS Sports.

McKenzie, who has been a player for the Bills since 2018, didn’t seem phased by the news. Earlier this month, he went all out to propose to his longtime girlfriend. The Georgia alum, who was released, sent Bills Mafia a heartfelt message after the news broke.

In less than an hour, McKenzie’s tweet, “I could write a book about how much i love this place, but I’ll just say THANK YOU ❤️,” received over 12,000 likes.

Following McKenzie’s tweet, Bills Mafia responded angrily, complimenting him on his graceful departure and wishing him well. One woman wrote, “Well I’m f****** sad,” while another well-known fan account tweeted, “All love my guy, best of luck wherever you land always rooting for you ✊🏼.”

“I yelled at you a lot this season, but this response made me emotional,” wrote one commenter. Love players who love Buffalo back ❤️💙,” wrote WKBW sports director Matthew Bové, while McKenzie was a fan favorite who soon rose to prominence as a go-to guy for reporters covering the team in the locker room. felt like he was always quick to keep things light and that all topics were fair game. I’m hoping for nothing but the best for him wherever he goes.
