Rose Bowl. an Alabama football player, played his most significant game as a freshman running back in the Rose Bowl.
During the regular season, Haynes largely carried the ball late in games, rushing for 137 yards and two scores on 21 touches. He was a special teams player as well. The former five-star player’s frequent and early return in the Rose Bowl game versus Michigan was a bit of a surprise.
Against the Wolverines, the Georgia product ran for 31 yards on four carries. On “The Pat McAfee Show” this Thursday at the Rose Bowl, Saban explained why Haynes played more than he did during the regular season.
He’s been a fantastic player for us the entire season, according to Saban. For us, there was a bit of a log jam at running back. Each of our four extremely talented players missed a brief period of play due to injuries at some point during the season. Nevertheless, things worked out, as Roydell’s little ankle injury in the previous game kind of made room for 22. But he was a really good player when he had the opportunity to play in the past. He has a great future ahead of him, and I predict that he will be an extremely talented athlete.
