Recap: For the majority of the first period, the Golden Knights held off the Boston Bruins, but with five minutes left, the scoring accelerated. The Bruins led 3-0 in the first half after scoring three goals in a short three-minute period.
In the middle frame, the roles were entirely reversed, and the Golden Knights retaliated fiercely. After Paul Cotter gave Vegas the lead, Alex Pietrangelo scored his 600th career point to get his side within one. At 16:32 of the half, the Bruins took back their two-goal lead, but a minute later, Michael Amadio scored his 11th goal of 2023–24. Following two quarters of play, the home team had a 4-3 advantage.
Chandler Stephenson’s shorthanded breakaway early in the last stanza gave the Golden Knights a 4–4 lead. After being granted a late-game power play, Boston took the lead and held it with less than five minutes to play.
The Golden Knights lose 5–4 in Boston to the Bruins, dropping their record to 33–20–7. Vegas’ five-game road journey will resume at Buffalo on Saturday night. The puck drop versus the Sabres is set for 4:00 PM. (Jason’s recap)
Analysis: The Golden Knights were eventually buried too deep after a catastrophe in the first period. Three goals were required since they were unable to prevent the Bruins from taking the first position. Then, in the second, Vegas turned the tables and began tossing Boston under the bus. It was almost saved by a shorty in the third, but losing that much to a strong team is not a smart idea. (Ken’s analysis)
