The Ohio State football team is still on a raid of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Buckeyes have strengthened their staff with the addition of top safety Caleb Downs and centre Seth McLaughlin from Alabama, who were brought in after head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement.

Sam Petitto, the new director of player personnel at Ohio State, will report to general manager of player personnel Mark Pantoni. Petitto got going on Monday.

For eight years, Petitto served as Alabama’s director of player personnel and director of recruiting in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, under head coach Mark Pantoni. During his tenure, the Crimson Tide consistently placed first or close to first in the national recruiting rankings. Prior to it, Petitto was employed at Georgia.

Former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer replaced retiring coach Nick Saban, bringing in most of his own staff and cutting Petitto.

Pantoni remarked, “I’ve known him for a very long time.” “It goes without saying that he had a stellar reputation among the folks I knew at his former employers in Georgia and Alabama. I heard he hadn’t been retained at Alabama with the new staff, so I went out to him when we had an opening. The timing was perfect. It turned out since he and we both looked.”
