He was first mentioned last week, following rk Giordano’Mas forced departure from the team due to his father’s untimely death. During that period, Lajoie appeared in three games before being declared healthy scratch following the returns of William Lagesson and Morgan Rielly.

This season, he has made seven appearances for the Leafs and has contributed one assist. On the other hand, in 31 games played in the AHL, Lajoie has 17 points (two goals and fifteen assists).

As previously mentioned, Lajoie’s return to the Marlies suggests that more of the Leafs’ regulars will soon be joining them again. Giordano did not play last week, but he should be back in time for Toronto’s Tuesday game against the Golden Knights. In order to accommodate Calle Jarnkrok and Joseph Woll back onto the roster, they will also need to consider the possibility that they will soon be available again.

Since Pontus Holmberg does not need to clear waivers, some may be concerned that he might be sent down; however, given his recent play, he ought to continue receiving more chances to play with the Leafs. In order to make room for Woll, Martin Jones may need to be placed on waivers, but Toronto would be better off leaving him in place considering how desperate many teams are for goalies and the uncertainty surrounding Woll’s performance upon his return. Nick Robertson does not require waivers either because he has also found his groove and should stay with the big club.
Thus, the most likely person to be sent down to make room for Giordano, Woll, and Jarnkrok is Noah Gregor.
