Center Seth McLaughlin, who will transfer from Alabama, will reportedly visit Ohio State this weekend.On3’s Peter Nakos reported that McLaughlin could arrive as early as Thursday.
McLaughlin has started all 14 games for Alabama this season, but struggled in the Crimson Tide’s playoff loss to Michigan on New Year’s Day.
Ohio State has been looking to revamp its offensive line after issues plagued the unit throughout the 2023 season.
The struggles on offense have increased pressure on coach Ryan Day, who could find himself in a hot spot if the ‘Ohio State fails to compete for the national title in 2024.
McLaughlin originally signed with Alabama as a three-star prospect in the 2020 class.
He appeared in 36 games and made 25 starts in three seasons with the Tide, who saw nine players enter the transfer portal this week.
McLaughlin has up to two years of eligibility remaining no matter where he ends up.
Ohio State currently has 19 departures through the portal but no new players.Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News reported that McLaughlin will also visit Ole Miss later this month.
The Rebels have one of the strongest transfer classes in the country, with 12 players ready to play for Lane Kiffin.
Ohio State football has been slow to enter the transfer portal, but it appears things are starting to heat up.
