Kentucky Basketball Was Tricked by Kenny Payne
March is almost here, and we need to be furious.

Over 700 days have passed since Kenny Payne took the helm as head coach of the Cardinals. We were duped into believing that a man with more than 18 years of experience as an assistant coach could return U of L basketball to its former glory. However, thus far, the team has not seen much success.

The Peter Principle is it! Based on his bio, KP appears to have achieved success in different contexts and domains. We now know that he is not in his present circumstances. He’s now at the point where his prior achievements don’t translate into victories at the greatest level! Dr. Peter’s theory states that he is elevated to the “level of his incompetence.”

At a record rate, Louisville is falling short against teams that are considered pushovers. These days, press conferences are more fascinating than games. KP handles the press with an air of ineptitude. For ’24, Louisville has not yet signed any players. Following Payne’s appointment, only Curtis Williams, Ty-Lau Johnson, Tre White, and Danilo Jovanovich signed. All of them, ostensibly excepting Jovanovich, have contributed significantly this year. Who knows, maybe he can recruit in the future?

I’m really sorry for the athletes. I feel so bad for the supporters. I detest the coaching staff’s connections to Louisville. I’m really sorry for Kenny. With the exception of his time spent attending the nameless school down I-64, he is a native of Louisville. I feel terrible for his friends and comrades who turned out in March 2022. Something has to change if Louisville basketball is to have any more spectacular March days in the future.
