On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Lakers suffered their fourth straight defeat, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 118-111. The Lakers were competitive all night long despite LeBron James’s absence, but Anthony Davis’s best efforts were insufficient to overcome Minnesota, who owns the best record in the Western Conference.
After winning the NBA In-Season Tournament, the Lakers have dropped to 1-5 this season, which puts them at a low point. The Lakers have struggled to establish a consistent routine due to injuries, which has resulted in changes to lineups and rotations.
Even though Davis thought the Lakers played well in Minnesota, they were unable to secure the victory. The Lakers center didn’t want to accept any moral awards for their performance after the game, saying only that the team needed to find a way to start winning again. Source: Spectrum SportsNet
“I believe that an effort was made. Of course, losing four games in a row stinks. It’s difficult. Your goal is to return to the winning column. It’s obvious that some players were absent. However, I believe that overall, tonight’s effort was there. We behaved as though we were playing to win. We were a little more assured and collaborative in our play. But losing stinks. No moral triumphs, no sympathy from others, and no self-pity on our part. All we have to do is work it out.
It was always going to be a struggle for the Lakers because they were playing the second night of a back-to-back on the road against the West’s best team, and James was not playing. Although the effort was commendable, the team needs tangible wins right now because they are in the middle of a bad run.
