Bolton Wanderers honored a devoted supporter who passed away on Saturday during a game against Cheltenham Town.
At the Lancashire club’s home stadium, Iain Purslow, 71, was supporting his son Stuart and the Whites when he passed out during the first half, possibly from a cardiac arrest.

Mr. Purslow, an Oldham resident, was taken to the hospital by medical personnel and paramedics, where he tragically passed away after receiving CPR.

After being taken to the hospital by paramedics and medical staff, Mr. Purslow, an Oldham resident, tragically died there after receiving CPR.

Thirty minutes after the players were removed from the field, the match was canceled in accordance with the referee, just after 4 p.m. The club says the rescheduling of the game will happen eventuall

In a heartfelt remembrance, a fan club wrote on Facebook, “Rest in peace Iain Purslow once a wanderer always a wanderer.”

“I worked with Iain for about 10 years. He was a Wanderer through and through and a cracking laugh. RIP, friend,” Geoff Parker continued.

The club reports that Phil Mason, its chaplain, is offering support to those affected by the incident as well as family members.
The FA-Cup home game against Luton Town on Tuesday night is open to supporters honoring the devoted lifelong fan.

In honor of Mr. Purslow’s age, a fan has requested applause in the 71st minute in his memory.
