As the Las Vegas Raiders get closer to their season finale, several of them are suffering from the 2023–24 NFL season.

Raiders tight end Michael Mayer has missed the last two games due to a toe injury, and running back Josh Jacobs has missed the last three games due to a quad injury. A number of other Raiders are still dealing with injuries that have been bothering them for weeks.

It makes perfect sense for Las Vegas to think about sitting some of its best players against the Denver Broncos on Sunday to reduce the possibility of more injuries now that they are out of the running for the playoffs.
“And we’ll take those guys out of the game and practice and replace them with someone who wants to play if I feel like they’re not giving it their all. However, I don’t think that would be an issue. ‘Want to’ hasn’t seemed to be a problem for us here.”

In Week 1, Las Vegas defeated Denver 17–16, but the 2022–23 NFL rushing champion did not play a major role. He only managed 48 yards on 19 carries and added 23 yards on two receptions.

In Jacobs’ absence, second-year Raiders running back Zamir White has stepped up, particularly in their Christmas Day victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, when he ran for 145 yards.
