Former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban will join ESPN in the fall to serve as a Saturday morning college football analyst on the “College GameDay” pregame show.

“ESPN and College GameDay have played a very important role in the growth of college football, and I am honored to have the opportunity to join their team,” Saban said in a press release announcing the move.

“I will do my best to provide additional information and perspective and contribute to College GameDay, the ultimate Saturday tradition for college football fans.

”Saban’s contributions to college football are unmatched, having served as head football coach at Alabama, LSU, Michigan State and Toledo and winning seven national championships as a head coach.

He retired from his head coaching duties on January 10 and is already looking ahead to his next challenge.

In addition to Saban becoming a regular contributor to College GameDay, there is speculation that Saban will also contribute to NFL Draft coverage and special SEC programming surrounding conference media days.

“Nick Saban is a unique and iconic figure in college football.

He is also an extremely gifted communicator who will immediately bring even greater credibility, authority and entertainment value to ESPN, including our popular College GameDay show,” Jimmy Pitaro, president of ESPN, said in the release. press.

Saban is known for participating in playoff coverage during seasons in which Alabama was eliminated from contention.

It was announced that he would join the roster including Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Pat McAfee.
